September 2026

dont let the florida heat fool you.

The calendar says fall but Florida didn’t get the memo.

September might mean pumpkin-spice everything in other parts of the country.

Here in Northwest Florida?

We're still sweating.

The heat and humidity are still very real, football season is getting started, kids are back in school, Labor Day brings one more big weekend, and everyone's schedule seems to get a little crazier.

September is the perfect month to pay attention to hydration, recovery and taking care of yourself.

Are you actuallly hydrated?

Here's something most people don't think about:

Feeling thirsty isn't the only sign that you need fluids.

During hot weather, your body loses water through sweat as it works to regulate your temperature.

Headache.
Fatigue.
Dizziness.
Weakness.
Muscle cramps.
Feeling unusually tired.

These can all be signs that your body needs attention.

The CDC recommends drinking plenty of fluids, carrying water with you and drinking throughout the day rather than waiting until you're thirsty.

Try this simple September challenge:

Carry a water bottle with you every day for the next 30 days.

Keep it in the car.
Take it to work.
Bring it to the gym.
Take it to the kids' games.

Make hydration automatic.

Labor Day weekend—summer’s grand finale:

Boats.
Beach days.
Backyard parties.
Travel.
Football.
Friends.
Family.

And sometimes three days of doing way too much.

If you're planning a big weekend, don't make hydration an afterthought.

Our favorite rule?

Water between alcoholic drinks.

It's simple, inexpensive and something everyone can do.

If your weekend involves a lot of time outdoors, remember that alcohol, heat and physical activity can all make hydration more challenging.

Plan ahead. And if you need an extra boost, book that IV!

Happy Labor Day!
